Product:
  1. Requirements are gathered by the company it self- based on end users needs.
  2. It involves long term testing.
  3. Testing is conducted at the customers site by end users.
  4. Testing is conducted in real environment.
Example: Buying ready made clothes.
Project:
  1. The customers exclusively give requirements.
  2. It involves limited testing.
  3. Testing is conducted at the developers site
  4. Testing is conducted in virtual environment.
Example: Giving clothes to tailor and asking him to stitch.
